Product pages must tell readers what evidence supports the recommendation. A research-based comparison is not labeled as a hands-on test.

How products are evaluated

Current comparisons may use official manuals, specifications, compatibility information, warranty terms, required accessories, installation demands, safety information, and clearly stated use-case fit. Each important claim should be FIRSTHAND, DOCUMENTED, or EDITORIAL ASSESSMENT under the definitions in our Editorial Policy.

Hands-on claims

“We tested,” “we used,” “on the water we found,” ownership claims, runtime, speed, range, durability, and installation experience require supporting notes, photographs, logs, or other direct evidence. Without that evidence, the page uses research-based language and links the relevant official source.

Ratings and structured data

The site does not publish numerical star scores without a visible, repeatable scoring method and supporting evidence. It does not invent customer ratings, review counts, prices, availability, awards, or test results. Product or Review structured data is used only when it matches visible eligible content.

“Best” labels

“Best overall,” “best budget,” and similar labels are editorial fit judgments for a defined audience and use case. The page must explain the tradeoff. They are not laboratory rankings or customer-review aggregates.

Prices and availability

Retail prices, bundles, and availability change. Pages avoid presenting old estimates as live prices and show a checked date when a specific price materially affects the comparison.

Samples and relationships

Any free sample, sponsorship, travel support, or other material brand relationship must be disclosed on the affected page. A sample never guarantees positive coverage.

Affiliate links

Shopping links may earn a commission. They use sponsored relationship attributes where supported and appear near a clear disclosure. An affiliate link is not an impartial citation; official documentation is linked separately.

Updates and removals

Pages are revised when products are discontinued, recalled, materially changed, or no longer fit the stated use case. Readers may report errors through the Contact page.
